The Associate of Science degree in Business Administration at Bahamas Community College is designed to prepare students for entry into management and supervisory positions in a various businesses. The course will also introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement in management. As a result students will be able to launch their own businesses or join an established business in an entry-level position developing the strategies, plans, procedures, and policies that guide a business on both a day-to-day and long-term basis.
College Of Law & Justice
The Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice at Bahamas Community College is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education by combining a core set of general education courses with specialized courses in criminal justice. Students will also gain an understanding of constitutional and criminal law in contrast to the judicial process, providing students with the theoretical foundations, knowledge, skills and practices of criminal justice operations. As a result, students will develop rational decisions and informed responses to the daily challenges one faces in law enforcement, corrections, and court operations. Additionally, they will develop a working understanding of constitutional and criminal law in contrast to judicial process.
College Of Marine Sciences
The Associate of Arts degree in Marine Science at Bahamas Community College is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education by combining a of general education and core courses with specialized courses in Marine Biology. The program provides students with the basic knowledge of geosciences, biology and chemistry, to study the world’s oceans and coastal waters. Students will study the motion and circulation of ocean waters; the physical and chemical properties of the oceans; and how these properties affect coastal areas, climate, and weather. Students will also become acquainted with basic scientific concepts through classroom and hands-on exploration of our natural environments. As a result students will be able to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge gained. Students will be able to communicate effectively, using the language, concepts, and models of marine biology and oceanography. Define and solve problems independently and collaboratively using the methodology of marine biology and oceanography. They will be able to apply the laboratory and field techniques with accuracy, precision, and safety. Interpret biological and oceanographic information accurately. Demonstrate proficient library, mathematical, and computer skills in data gathering and analysis and apply scientific concepts to environmental and societal issues.
COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
The Associate of Science degree in Computer Information Systems at Bahamas Community College is designed to give students an understanding how computer information systems are used within an organization to support decision-making and goals attainment. The program also lays the foundation for a broad base of knowledge with general education courses well as courses within the program discipline, such as networking, programming, database and web page design thus preparing students for careers within the Computer Information field. Students will also learn and develop the skills necessary to support an organization’s information demands as well as enhance their networking, programming, database and web page design skills.
COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
Early Childhood Education
The Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education at Bahamas Community College is designed to provide students with a well-rounded education by combining a of general education and core courses with specialized courses in early childhood education. Students will be exposed to various program disciplines, such as child growth & development, classroom management, and early childhood teaching which will focus on preparing students for careers within the early childhood education field. Additionally, student will be required to complete a 12 week field experience with a government approved institution. AS A Result students will be able to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge of child development and learning in an early childhood setting. Plan, evaluate, and design curriculum appropriate for the education of young children while understanding the importance of individuality and cultural diversity to assist in creating a meaningful curriculum. Students will also display an understanding and knowledge of foundational concepts in the general education areas including science, mathematics, English, and the social sciences.
College Preparatory Program
BCC Prep class is a pre-collegiate student academic development program that provides academic enrichment for students not meeting the required standard for enrollment. At BCC great emphasis is placed on preparing our student for their degree programs. BCC is aware that helping our students’ achieve college readiness is a team effort hence Student enrolling in our Prep classes will have lectures who are dedicated and focused on seeing them succeed by building their academic skills assuring them of college admission and success for their dream degree.
